It’s an anniversary meant to establish the rule of law in the international community and achieve world peace.
The Deaths of Maresuke Nogi and His Wife Shizuko (September 13, 1912)
September 13th is also the day that Army General Maresuke Nogi, who distinguished himself in the Russo-Japanese War, took his own life along with his wife, Shizuko. This was the day of Emperor Meiji’s state funeral, and the Nogis ended their own lives that day as an act of loyalty to the Emperor — a practice known as “junshi,” or following one’s lord in death. It sent shockwaves through Japanese society at the time and remains a widely discussed and debated event to this day.

I played Super Mario Bros. so much that even now, the screen and the music instantly pop into my head (lol).
The 8-bit graphics didn’t move as smoothly as games do today, but I was completely hooked.
Hunting for all kinds of secret tricks, like the infinite 1-ups and hidden warp zones, was such a big trend back then too, wasn’t it?
Taking turns with the controller with friends, spending hours challenging that impossible 8-4 stage — looking back now, that’s a great memory.
Back in an era with no strategy guides or internet, the way info about secret tricks would slowly spread just by word of mouth was, thinking about it now, a pretty special kind of experience.
The reason I still can’t help picking up every new entry that comes out is probably because those happy memories from back then are just baked into me.
