1951年9月8日、アメリカのサンフランシスコで「日本国との平和条約（サンフランシスコ平和条約）」と「日米安全保障条約」が調印されました。日本を含む49カ国が署名し、翌1952年4月28日に条約が発効したことで、第二次世界大戦後の連合国による占領統治が終わり、日本は主権を回復して国際社会に復帰しました。戦後日本の大きな転換点となった条約です。

On September 8, 1951, in San Francisco, both the “Treaty of Peace with Japan” (the Treaty of San Francisco) and the “Security Treaty Between the United States and Japan” were signed.
